January Rainbow Scrap Challenge - Blue

As mentioned in an earlier post, I jointed the RSC for 2014.  January's color was blue.  My goal this year is to make a Dresden Plate quilt using various colors.  This is my first block.  I will be waiting until all blocks are completed to applique the blocks to a background.

February's color is pink.  Check back by the end of February to see how my pink Dresden block looks.

Folded Corner Clipper -- New (to me) Tool

Folded Corner Clipper Tool

I was reading blogs and going through emails and such and I came across a you-tube video demonstration the Folded Corner Clipper Tool.  I thought I could really use this so I ordered it from Missouri Star Quilt Company.

It can be used to make half-square triangles without having to draw that line, sew down the line then trim.  This allows you to cut your squares with the quarter seam allowance included.  You then just sew the pieces together using your usual 1/4 inch seam allowance.

It can also be used to prepare binding to be pieced together.

I used this tool this weekend and it was really a time saver for me.

Directions for use are printed on the back of the package.
