Catching Up

I have a lot of catching up to do on this blog.  The last month has been busy with travel, both personal and business.  I have done a little sewing - making pillowcases.

These went to my grandkids and their friends.  One of the fairy ones below was also sent to them.

One fairy pillowcase and one of the puppy ones was donated to a charity that the Just Needles Quilt Guild is working with.

These are fun to make.  I will be making Halloween ones for the grandkids for use in their Trick or Treating.

I am also working on two baby quilts for my twin great neice and nephew.  Below is a picture of them; aren't they cute!!

I will be adding more to the blog soon.

2011 F-R-I-E-N-D-S Swap

I decided to join the F-R-I-E-N-D-S Swap over at sewprimkhris.blogspot.com.  The details and the rules can be found by clicking on the link.  It sounds like a lot of fun, plus it is a way to make new friends.

According to Khris, "We will be swapping Seven (7) gifts starting with the letters of the word FRIENDS. This is open to all crafty bloggers with a current blog."

Hop on over and check it out.  Maybe you will want to join in the fun.

twiddletails

You have four chances to win a GO! Baby.

Also check out her store.  She has the most beautiful fabric.  I belong to her monthly "Dear Jane" fabric as well as the monthly "Brights" fabric.  They are so beautiful that I hate to use them!

August Cuppa Joes and Cupcakes

Today is the beginning of a new month so the Cuppa Joe and Cupcake swaps over at the Scratching Post are due.  I put the cupcakes in the envelopes without taking a picture, but I did take a picture of some of the coffee mugs (Cuppa Joes) that I will sending out in August.  By the end of December, if everyone follows through, each of us will have 52 cups to use for a quilt or some other type of sewing project.

Since August is my birthday month I will be receiving cupcakes from everyone.  I have already received four cupcakes.  When the number gets larger I will post pictures of them.

New Friends in the Neighborhood

It seems that I have a few new neighbors.  A stray cat, very skinny and very hungry came to visit me about two weeks ago.  Being the softy that I am, I put cat food out.  Well, two days later I found out why she was so skinny.  She brought three of her offspring with her.  The kittens are so cute.  It is hard to get a picture of them because they are so scared.  I cannot stand to see animals suffer.  In just two weeks, with a couple of meals a day, all have gained weight and look much better.  The mama cat appears to have been some one's pet.  She will let me get close, but will not let me pet her.  When I get up in the mornings she is lying on my steps, waiting to be fed.  It is had to get a picture, but there are one that looks like the mama, and two black, grey and white one.

All four are in the last photo, but its not a clear picture.  I hope to get close enough to get them so I can get them to a vet, and find homes for them.  I already have two house cats, so I cannot bring another one inside.

Catching Up

It has been almost a month since I last posted.  Since I returned from my vacation in Myrtle Beach things have been very hectic at work.  I was gone a week but came back with three weeks of work stacked on my desk.  Tell me, how does that happen.  Well, tomorrow begins a new month and soon I will be caught up.

Enough of that.  I want to share with you some of the pictures of my vacation with my grandkids, sons and their wives.
I took long walks on the beach at sunup and sunset.  This is the sun sinking in the west over the dunes

The grandkids enjoyed playing in the water and in the pool.

Kensie was all dressed up in her swimsuit, ready to get a suntan!
We also went shopping at the malls and enjoyed the "rides".

Our condo had a mermaid theme.

But best of all I got to spend time with all three of my grandkids.
Great memories, until we are back together again for fun in the sun!!

Happy Fourth of July

As we celebrate this fourth of July, let us remember the sacrifices that have been made down through the years to keep this country free.  Each generation has contributed to the freedom we enjoy.  My father was in WWII, at the battle of Pearl Harbor.  Many of my friends were in Viet Nam -- several have their names on the wall in Washington DC.  Our young men and women have fought and continue to fight in wars to keep our county safe.  Those who guard our borders and keep our cities safe are also heros.  Let us take a few moments to remember all of these brave souls and to pray that we can continue to live, without fear, in this great country of ours.

Happy fourth of July everyone.
