Scrap Vomit Square Block Swap - Really!!

I have always wanted to do a postage stamp quilt, but I never really got started.  The other day I was surfing the web and came across this blog, gnome angle.  Angie Wilson was blogging about a swap of 2.5 inch squares.  The name of the swap is Scrap Vomit Square Block.  What a name!!  Click on the above link to get the skinney on this.  She indicated that she had set up a swap of  2.5 inch squares on a site called swap bot.  That site was also new to me.  I went over for a visit and let's just say the rest is history.  The sign-up was through today so I quickly joined the swap.  There will be three partners and each will receive a package of 49 - 2.5 inch squares.

I pulled out my scrap box and other pieces of fabric laying around and in no time I had cut out 196 2.5 inch squares.  That is three sets for swapping and one set for me to keep.  There are no duplicates in each set.  I could not believe that I had 49 different pieces of fabric!!  Wonder how many I really have???

The pictue below shows one of the sets.  I will get an email soon telling me who my swap partners are.  These blocks could come from anywhere in the world.  I am looking forward to seeing the variety of blocks that will be sent to me.  The package has to be mailed by October 5.  I am happy that I have mine all cut out because I will be at the Cobble Court Quilt Retreat III in CT on that date.

These 49 squares only make one block in the quilt, so I will be looking for other swap partners that have 2.5 inch blocks that they want to swap.  Wouldn't it be neat to make a quilt with 2.5 inch squares, where there are no duplicate fabric.  Do you think this is possible?

If you are interested in making this quilt, you can find a tutorial here.  Its worth clicking on the link just to see the finished quilt.

Happy quilting.............

Sandra
